AIM STATEMENT: Insults towards our Imam and the Religious Authority
In His Name the Most High
In recent days we have sadly witnessed two circumstances whereby direct and public abuse has been used against the Religious Authorities of Shi’a Muslims.
The first of such instances was when Iraqi politician Iyad Allawi visited the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (as) in Najaf and was faced by resistance from locals. Footage from the aftermath has shown that one of his aides shouted abuse towards the master of our time, Imam Al-Mahdi (as). Such comments coming from those who seek leadership of Muslim land must be deplored in the most severe of fashions for it is not tolerable at all.
The second instance was on the Qatar based Al-Jazeera TV station, which screened on Tuesday evening an interview that insulted the Religious Authority of the Shi’a Muslims, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Sistani. These remarks are appalling to say the least and are in no manner within the parameters of journalism. Al-Jazeera TV is known for its stances in favour of the tyrannical Saddam regime, and after it was toppled, its later stances with the terrorists who seek to destroy society in Iraq
We in the AhlulBayt Islamic Mission find these states of affairs a grave abuse towards millions of faithful. Hence, we demand an apology for such insults that target our Holy Imam and the religious leaders.
